Did he do anything to fix the problems he had caused?

Are there any true facts about beavers in this story?

Read and Respond:

Use this activity to write down the things beaver did, and how they made a problem in the forest.  Use complete sentences, to explain:

Discuss:  What was the big message in this story?  Was it about a bear hugging things, or was it about how we treat people, even when we are mad?  What is the hidden message in this story?

Respond:

Write about a time you were really mad.  What did you do, and how did you calm down?  Did anyone help you?  Did the problem that made you mad, get fixed?  If not, why not?  And if it was, how did that happen?

Watch the following videos, to learn how to use subtraction to check addition.  The first one shows it using a very simple set of numbers, the second goes into more detail.

Discuss:  What "something" had the Moose been missing?  What happened to the Moose when he got into real trouble?  What steps did he take to face his challenges?

What did he learn from his adventures?

Activity:

The moose had to adjust to a new life after he got marooned on the island.

Make a comic, showing the changes he made, and his new friendship.

Use this frame to help you.

Discuss:  The friends did not agree about how to tackle each of their problems.  What happened each time they argued?

What did they need to do to get to the right answer, each time, to succeed?

What was their lesson?  What did they learn to do?

Activity:

Draw a picture showing how the three animals worked together to paddle along the stream.

Underneath, write a sentence about the skill each animal had that helped with the job.

Letter of the week

Use the letter form to write a letter to someone who does not live in your house.

Start by reading the example letter, then write your own.  Included:

- Dear ________

- a greeting and a question

- the body - some of the things you have been doing, how you felt about those things, and who you were doing them with.

- Ending (I hope we can speak again, soon, or, I look forward to seeing you on Facetime, or, anything you would like to say as part of the good-bye in your letter.)
